Vera Hofbauer became Head of the Transport Section in the Federal Ministry of Transport, Innovation and Technology on 1 January 2022. She has many years of expertise in the areas of strategy development, transport policy and stakeholder management.

The Transport Section is the largest section in the BMK and is responsible for central components of the transport transition. In this function, Vera Hofbauer succeeds Judith Engel, who moved to ÖBB Infrastruktur as Executive Director at the turn of the year.

Hofbauer is a trained spatial planner and was most recently head of the Shipping Department at the Ministry of Climate Protection. Before that, she worked in international project management at viadonau, where she was also responsible for knowledge management. In her functions, she has set important impulses for modernisation and climate protection in shipping, not least as head of international committees.
