WWF Austria

The work of WWF Austria follows WWF’s global mission: “to stop the degradation of the planet's natural environment and to build a future in which humans live in harmony with nature”.

With the mission in mind, we aim at

  • preserving the Earth’s biodiversity
  • promoting the environmentally benign use of renewable resources
  • reducing environmental pollution and prevent the waste of natural assets

What we do

The most important tools of WWF’s nature conservation work are the identification of protected areas and the sustainable, that is: environmentally benign, use of our natural assets. In addition, WWF also works to reduce environmental pollution and the wasteful use of natural resources at the cost of nature.

If we manage to maintain maximum diversity of living environments for the long term, we will be in a position to save also a large part of the world’s animal and plant species – and thereby preserve the network of life that also holds humans.

WWF worldwide

The association World Wide Fund For Nature (WWF) is one of the biggest and most distinguished nature conservation organisations of the world, active in about 100 countries. It is supported by 5.3 million people around the world.

59 national departments, programme offices and partner organisations cooperate in WWF’s global network. Around the globe approximately 4,400 employees conduct over 2,000 projects to preserve biological diversity.
