Combined Transport Measures for the promotion in Austria
Austrian transport policy sees combined transport as a central approach to solving the problems arising from Austria's geographical and topographical situation in the field of road freight transport.

In view of the growing traffic flows in and through Austria, especially by road, Austria has taken early measures to promote environmentally friendly modes of transport such as combined transport.
The following measures aim at promoting combined transport:
- Financial support (PDF, 354 KB) (investment aid, financing of terminal infrastructure, public service compensation)
- Fiscal measures (PDF, 309 KB) (motor vehicle tax incentives)
- Regulatory framework (PDF, 366 KB) for the promotion of combined transport (e.g. liberalisation, exceptions to temporary driving bans for initial and final road legs)
- Infrastructure measures (PDF, 317 KB) (for rail transport and combined transport)
The development in transport in recent years shows the usefulness of these support measures.
